"Chompy" the humpback whale! This is the first in my whale series, new for 2015!
This is the first in my whale series, new for 2015! Inspired by the humpbacks that have been living off Redondo Beach for the past couple of weeks. I've been out paddling right next to these magnificent creatures. And it inspired me when I got back on the torch. "Choppy" is named after the mama whale that has been hanging out with her baby. When mama feeds, she comes up out of the water with her mouth open and then chomps a couple times before descending back into the ocean. I witnessed this my self! While I am enjoying the whales here, I made this for you to enjoy where ever you are!
Chompy is approximately 75 mm (almost 3") across. The hole runs vertically just behind the "blowhole".

I have wanted to make a humpback whale bead since I started making beads. Why haven't I?? Good question...answer: they are kind of tough, lots of detail on a very small space! But this past week's live and close up encounters with the humpbacks inspired me to get on the torch and give it a go. "Humpy" was my fist attempt. I didn't quite get the mouth down...looks more like he's smiling. So he is like the juvenile that's hanging around off our beach...in my opinion.
Humpy is approximately 67-68 mm across (about 2.75") and has a vertical hole just behind the "blowhole".
