The glass rod is heated to a molten state and then wrapped around the mandrel. Date: 11/16/2003
The glass is shaped to an even round in the flame. Date: 11/16/2003

The tip of the stringer is heated and a dot of glass is added to my bead Date: 11/16/2003
A dot of transparent color is added on top of the white dots so it shows up. Date: 11/16/2003
These transparent dots are then melted in. Date: 11/16/2003
The dot is then "spot" heated to soften it. Date: 11/16/2003
The bead is removed from the flame and poked in the center of the dot. Date: 11/16/2003
A small blob of clear glass is added to the dot and traps a pocket of air, creating a bubble in the center of the dot. Date: 11/16/2003

The bead is rotated in the cooler part of the flame to finish it off before sending it to the kiln Date: 11/16/2003
I put the finished bead into the kiln to begin the annealing porcess Date: 11/16/2003
About 10 hours later...the kiln is back to room temperature. Date: 11/23/2003
